Warning of leftist military coup in Venezuela

TODAY VENEZUELA – “It would be a terribly mistake if they (the military) would go against the Constitution,” the president of Uruguay, José Mujica, remarked in an interview with Spanish newspaper El País

Uruguayan President José Mujica warned of the possibility of “a coup d’état from leftist military” in Venezuela which would “wreck” the “defense of democracy.” He made such remarks in an interview published on Thursday in Spanish newspaper El País.

“It would be a terribly mistake if they (the military) would go against the Constitution,” remarked Mujica.

Political tension in Venezuela has soared over the last weeks, as opposition leader, Leopoldo López, turned a year detained. Meanwhile, the detention of opposition Caracas Metropolitan Mayor, Antonio Ledezma, on February 19 has been heavily criticized by the international community.
