Johnny Francisco Araya Monge (born April 29, 1957). He has been the mayor of the country’s capital San José from 1998 to 2001 and again since 2003 to July 2013.  He is the nephew of Luis Alberto Monge, who was President of Costa Rica from 1982 to 1986.
