Costa Rica’s biometric passport recently won an award for its improvements in security!

The new passport has a cost of ¢51,000 colones, including delivery to the nearest post office

Q COSTA RICA – Costa Rica recently won the “Best New Passport” award for the High Security Printing program in Latin America.

This is a recognition of the advanced security of the new Costa Rican biometric passport. It contains all kinds of cool features like holographic effects, micro text, security threads, embossed patterns, laser images and more that you can actually see.

Plus, it has secret security elements that you can’t see.

This passport has over 60 security features, and it uses materials like polycarbonate for the data page and a transparent portrait window.

This is the second award this biometric passport has gotten – it won for its innovative design back in 2022.

The passport has a cost of US$75, plus US$10 to the Banco de Costa Rica (BCR) for the processing and ¢5,537 colones to the Correos de Costa Rica (Post Office) for delivery within 10 business days of request.
