COSTA RICA SPORTS NEWS – Costa Rica’s national futbol (soccer) team, La Sele, is leaving nothing to chance. To avoid digestive disorders they are taking with them some 400 Kgs of rice and beans, along with sauces and legumes, from Costa Rica.
Fruits, vegetables, dairy and meats they will buy in Brazil.
The haul of rice and beans come with 84 units of Salsa Lizano, 80 bags of Café Britt and 36 bottles of Tabasco sauce the 23 players it to make them feel at home.
The “Don Pedro” brand of rice and beans, along with the extras were shipped to Brazil two weeks ago and last Friday were coming of customs clearance.
Ligia Chaves, nutritionist for the team, added that other legumes like chickpeas and lentils were also shipped from Costa Rica as well and that what they will only buy in Brazil are fruits, vegetables, dairy products and meats.
Oh, didn’t anyone, tell Ms Chaves that rice and beans is also a staple in Brazil? And that Brazil has a good supply of legumes as well? Brazil also some good coffee. And Tabasco sauce is produced by the US-based McIlhenny Company and well can be found everywhere? Ok, we will give them the Britt products, which can only be found in Costa Rica and Colombia at the present time.
