QCOSTARICA – The annual car show, Expomovil, kicked off Thursday at the Centro de Eventos Pedregal, in Belen de Heredia.

Organized by Aivema, Expomovil 2016 that runs for ten days, to March 13, brings together 24 new car dealers, 8 banks, 3 financial services companies, 11 motorcycle dealers and six automotive parts and accessory companies under one roof.

“One of the clearest objectives of Aivema’s Expomóvil every year, is to improve the vehicle fleet in the country and also provide more and better options every year to all Costa Ricans,” said Guillermo Charpentier, president of the organizing committee.

According to Aivema, the Costa Rica auto market had the fastest growth in percentage in Latin America.

“Last year we grew 24.9% and this important change in the vehicle fleet has had a positive impact for the country, meaning vehicles with better technologies, more efficient consumption and a strong tax revenue,” said Charpentier.

The star of the Expomovil 2016 is Purdy Motor, the exclusive dealer in Costa Rica of Toyota, Lexus, Daihatsu and Hino (trucks). The dealer comes to Expomovil with eight new vehicles: six of which are Toyota and Lexus, the Toyota Avanza making its debut in the national market.

As a special promotion for the Expomovil, Purdy Motor, is offering the “Purdy Bono”, a bonus from US$2,500 to US$4,000, depending on the model, that can be used by the client as a down payment for a new vehicle, accessories or preventive maintenance plans.

Danissa, the exclusive dealer for Audi unveils three new Audi models, the A4, RSQ3 and RS7. Danissa also offers special financing through private and public banks.

Grupo Q offers up the latest in Chevrolet, Hyundai and Isuzu vehicles. The Sonata Hibrido, Veloster Turbo and the new generation of Elantra are expected to entice customers, of which 12 lukcy customers could win a second model equal to their first purchase.

Public and private banks also have enticing offers for customers, from fixed rate to preferential leasing plans.

Financing is a major part of the Expomovil. Buyers with little = and some cases nothing – down can finance their purchase with rates as low as 6.75% for dollar loans with terms up to 84 months.

The Banca Kristal or Women’s bank is offering 100% financing and with approval within an hour.

Financial experts warn buyers to evaluate their financed purchases, not to give in to impulse buying. In the past, Aivema numbers indicate that more than half of the finance purchases at the auto show come back to the financier within 18 months.
