Q COSTA RICA — IKEA hasn’t started operations in Costa Rica yet, despite some surprise on social media after the company announced its first three planned locations in Costa Rica.
But don’t count on seeing those iconic giant stores.
The first will be located within the Lindora Business Park in Santa Ana. This location will combine logistics services to support online and telephone sales with a planning and ordering area. Customers who purchase online will be able to pick up their products there.
At this location, customers will also be able to receive advice from Ikea on designing and organizing spaces in their homes.
Subsequently, the Swedish company plans to open two more locations: a compact store in Curridabat and a medium-sized store in Escazú. The latter will be developed in conjunction with a larger distribution center.
The implementation is part of a phased process. Online sales will be the first point of contact for customers.
The company said it will develop the large, iconic warehouse-type stores gradually. However, did not provide any projected timelines.
