COSTA RICA TECH NEWS — Apple’s iPhone6 smartphone will be available by mid-November with the expected approval by the Superintendencia de Telecomunicaciones (Sutel) in the coming days.

IPHONE6The process of approval by the telecom regular could take  few days, paving the way for Apple to start shipping product to three mobile operators, Kolbi, Movistar and Claro and Apple authorized retailers such as Grupo Monge (Play stores) and iCon.

according to the Sutel, Apple made a formal request last month for “homologación”, Spanish for “admissibility of approval” for the models A1522 (iPhone 6 Plus) and A1549 (iPhone 6).

Expected retail prices will be US$799 and US$899 (¢425.000 and ¢476.000 at current dollar exchange). It is not known yet is the mobile operators will offer plans with discounted prices for the device, similar to the iPhone 5.

The iPhone 6 comes with a bigger screen (4.7″ and 5.5″) and a 64 bit A8 processor, among other news features.
