  • First iPhone 5 offered starting at 10pm tonight

Although the official release in Costa Rica is Friday, Kolbi – ICE’s mobile operator – will start selling the iPhone 5 at 10pm tonight (Thursday).

In a full page ad in the La Nacion today, Kolbi will open its doors at 10pm tonight in select stores in Alajuela, Perez Zeledon, Cartago, Liberia, Heredia, Cuidad Quesada, Guapiles, Puntarenas, Jacó and in San José in Multiplaza Escazú, Terramall, Sabana Sur and Balmoral, among others.

This is the first time the iPhone 5 is being made available in Costa Rica “officially”.

In October an “importadora” (retail chain store) offered the 50 iPhone 5’s and in Mall San Pedro a kiosk offers both the iPhone 5 and iPad Mini to anyone will to hand over US$1.000 and US$750, respectively.

Claro and Movistar will be offering the iPhone 5 starting early Friday morning.

ICE has not announced prices, only saying it will be offered on outright purchases and with “new” Kolbi plans.
