(QCOSTARICA) Good news for those looking for work, a series of job fairs and opportunities like the soon-to-open City Mall in Alajuela, is flooding the market with thousands of job offers.
At Amazon, the company is looking to fill 400 jobs that include human resources, customer service and management. The company will be holding a job fair on Thursday, July 9, at its offices in Calle Blancos (north side of San Jose), between 7:00am and 2:00pm. From Costa Rica, Amazon provides services to the United States, Spain, Mexico and Brazil. Currently employes about 2,500 in the country.

Over at Walmart, the company says it has some 100 openings for cashiers and stock handlers, among others, at its stores that include Walmart, Masxmenos and Pali stores. The company is taking job applications for its stores in San Ramon, Santa Ana and Heredia. The first job fair is today (Wednesday) in Salitral (Santa Ana), and on Friday at the Maxi Pali in San Ramon.
On July 15 and 16, 18 companies that includes AMPM , KFC, McDonald’s, Spoon, La Gloria, Coca Cola, Grupo Monge, Hotel Radisson, Librería Internacional, Payless, Farmanova, Bac San José, Credomatic, Banco Nacional and Forever 21, will hold a job fair at the Radisson Hotel, between 8:00am and 4:00pm.
The single biggest source of employment has to be the new City Mall, located a kilometre from the international airport, on the radial a Alajuela, that is expected to generate some 3.500 direct and 4.000 indirect jobs.
The mall will be the largest in Costa Rica and Central America, with some 170,000 square metres (1,829,864 square foot) of floor space, that includes a food court to seat 1,600 people.
