TODAY NICARAGUA (Prensa Latina) The Nicaraguan government pointed out Tuesday the responsibility of the United States in the encouragement of an insecure, unworthy, disordered and illegal migration that affects Cuba and the Central American region.
The Nicaraguan position was exposed Tuesday by Foreign Vice Minister Dennis Moncada in the extraordinary meeting of Foreign Ministers of the System of Central American Integration (SICA), in San Salvador, to debate the topic of more than two thousand Cuban migrants beached in Costa Rica.
The text of the declaration, read in the local television by the coordinator of the Council of Communication and Citizenship, Rosario Murillo, considered that the government of Costa Rica created, and manipulated this crisis, which seeks to ignore the causes and the responsibility of the United States.
United States has the responsibility to correct and change this situation, accepting, once and for all, with realism and seriousness, a new time, full of dialogue and respect, in the relationships with Latin America and the Caribbean, the Nicaraguan representative emphasized.
Nicaragua asserted that it ratifies its position of not being lent to legitimate illegal politicians causing damage, suffering, and economic losses to human beings, whole families, governments and the peoples of Cuba and the region.
Moncada stated that his country attended the meeting of the Salvadoran capital with the objective of alerting the international community on the worsening of such a crisis that the government of Costa Rica has used to call for legitimating the Law of Adjustment and the policy of “dry/wet-feet”. This policy by the United States confers the Cubans a differentiated treatment, unique in the entire world, when admitting them in an immediate and automatic way without even caring the roads and means that the migrants are using, if they arrive in its territory, even illegally.
The Cuban Foreign Ministry emphasized in a recent declaration that these people are victims of the politizing of the migratory topic on the part of the US administration, of the Cuban Adjustment Law and, in particular, of the application of the dry-feet policy.
Managua demanded San José to take the corresponding measures to move away from the border areas all the people whose concentration omens and encourages new violent actions, prejudicial of the sovereignty that Nicaragua will make be respected.
He also pled for the rights of hundreds of thousands and even millions of Central American migrants, when arriving in the United States, after already crossing all the dangers and risks, suffer degrading persecution, detention and forced repatriation.
