From Zapote (San José) to Palmares and now Puntarenas, the season of “Carnavales” (Festivals) continues. The “Carnavales de Puntarenas” – which kicks off today – is perhaps hottest, both in temperature and emotion, as the ten 10 street party means great food, dancing, a beauty pageant and concerts.
Puntarenenses are so proud of their event that many will tell you that, ” the Festivals of Costa Rica are the Festivals of Puntarenas!”
Asoplaya, organizers of the festivities, offer a great combo of partying that includes the bands “Los Ajenos” and “Inner Circle” on Saturday, Feb. 22.
At about 13 ft. above sea level, parades, concerts on the beach, and many other recreational activities create the perfect environment to join in and share the culture of the people from Puntarenas.
