LAST MINUTE – The Juan Santamaria (San Jose) airport was closed at 6:00pm due to ash fall following the eruption of the Turrialba volcano recorded at 4:30pm.
Silvia Chaves, spokesperson for Aeris, the airport manager, said the temporary closure will continue until midnight.
According to Chaves, no outbound flights has so far been affected by the closure, but did not say what of the inbound flights.
Last March 12, more than 7,000 were affected by the closure of the airport for some 16 hours.
