Some U.S. Citizens in Costa Rica can still vote

The important United States midterm election takes place on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Even though you live in Costa Rica, it is not too late.

If you’re voting from abroad, for most, this is the last U.S. address where you lived before moving overseas.

In these 17 states, you may still have time to register, request your ballot, and return it electronically by mid-October:

  1. Arizona
  2. California
  3. Colorado
  4. Delaware
  5. Hawaii
  6. Indiana
  7. Kansas
  8. Maine
  9. Massachusetts
  10. Mississippi
  11. Montana
  12. Nebraska
  13. Nevada
  14. North Carolina
  15. North Dakota
  16. Uta
  17. Washington.

Sadly, in other states, it may be too late unless you are already registered and have a ballot and use a courier service like FedEx or DHL to return your voted ballot.

Of course, it is possible to get on a plane, fly to your state, and vote in person.
