Swarovski to Open Global Business Service Center in Costa Rica

The crystal jewelry maker and retailer will be setting up a business services center in San José in the first quarter of 2018 in order to support its operations in the Americas.

Swarovski has been operating in Costa Rica for the past 10 years. Retail locations in Costa Rica include Multiplaza Escazu, Multiplaza Del Este, Lincoln Plaza, and Paseo de las Flores in Heredia.

“Our scope of activities in Costa Rica will include a growing number of multi-functional processes and services, jointly operated with all the other parts of our global service network,” said Wojciech Krygowski, Managing Director Swarovski GBS Hub & Spokes.

“Following a very thorough evaluation process we have decided to establish the Americas spoke of Swarovski’s Global Business Services in Costa Rica. The local authorities have been highly professional and engaged in their support for us. This has created a solid foundation for a long-term commitment,” added Marcel Angst, Executive Vice President Global Business Services.

“The service sector employs 54,800 Costa Ricans thanks to the excellent human talent that is here. We hope that in the medium term Swarovski will grow even more in the country with the Costa Rican workers,” said Jorge Sequeira, director general of Coalición Costarricense de Iniciativas de Desarrollo (Cinde) – Costa Rican Coalition for Development Initiatives.

From a statement issued by the CINDE:  Swarovski, a leading crystal precision cutting company since 1895 and a world-renowned brand that adds sparkle to everything from jewelry, watches, fashion accessories to haute couture fashion and lighting technology, will be setting up a business services center in San Jose, Costa Rica, at the end of 2017 to serve its operations in the Americas. The Global Business Services (GBS) will be developed gradually over the next few years and in line with company values.

To maintain its strong competitive position globally, Swarovski is continually looking for ways to improve and adapt its business, allowing it to stay one step ahead. The opening of the GBS is part of an overall strategy to ensure that the Finance and Administration function allows for high performance of the company. As part of this initiative some specific administrative activities of Swarovski, which are close to the American market and its equipment, will be handled from Costa Rica.

9 de Octubre 2017, San José – Swarovski, compañía líder en cortes de precisión de cristal desde 1895 y una marca de renombre mundial que agrega brillo a todo, desde joyas, relojes, accesorios de moda hasta moda de alta costura y tecnología de iluminación de vanguardia, establecerá para atender sus operaciones en las Américas, un centro de servicios empresariales en San José, Costa Rica, a finales del 2017. El Global Business Services (GBS) se desarrollará gradualmente en los próximos años y en línea con los valores de la compañía.

Para mantener su fuerte posición competitiva a nivel mundial, Swarovski busca continuamente maneras de mejorar y adaptar sus negocios, lo que le permite estar un paso adelante. La apertura del GBS es parte de una estrategia global para asegurar que la función de Finanzas y Administración, permitan un alto desempeño de la compañía. Como parte de esta iniciativa algunas actividades administrativas específicas de Swarovski, que sean próximas al mercado americano y sus equipos, serán manejadas desde Costa Rica.

Las autoridades locales han sido altamente profesionales y comprometidas en su apoyo a nosotros. Esto ha creado una base sólida para mantener nuestro compromiso con el país a largo plazo”, declaró Marcel Angst, Vicepresidente Ejecutivo de Servicios de Negocios Globales.

Jorge Sequeira, Director General de CINDE, dijo: “Para Costa Rica el que una reconocida empresa a nivel mundial escoja el país para establecer una operación de servicios financieros y administrativos, representa la consolidación de su creciente sector servicios, el cuál hoy emplea a 54.800 costarricenses gracias al excelente talento humano que aquí se encuentra. Esperamos que en el mediano plazo Swarovski crezca aún más en el país de la mano de los trabajadores costarricenses”.

La nueva sede empleará a aproximadamente 50 empleados. La inauguración de las instalaciones permanentes del centro GBS de Swarovski en las Américas, se espera tenga lugar durante el primer trimestre de 2018.
