Q COSTA RICA  – A Blackhawk and Chinook of the Joint Task Force Bravo (JTF Bravo) arrived in Costa Rica Monday morning and will be in the country for the coming days, at the request of the Caja Costarricense del Seguro Social (CCSS), in order to analyze the operational logistics of transportation of material for the construction of two clinics in Talamanca.

The two U.S. helicopters arrived at the Tobia Bolaños airport, in Pavas.

“Costa Rica does not have helicopters able to carry out this type of work, so the United States government is reaching out to collaborate with the construction of medical centers in Talamanca,” said the U.S. Embassy in San Jose email.

The work on the clinics is in the communities of Piedra Mesa and Bajo Bioley, a collaboration part of the ongoing humanitarian assistance for the Costa Rican indigenous population, such as the one offered last November in Piedra Mesa, when a group of U.S.doctors joined the CCSS to bring health to Talamanca.

The Embassy said both aircraft will fly to Limón and Talamanca to determine where they could land, how to transport the materials and all the operational logistics necessary for the final mission that would take place in the coming weeks.

The helicopters and the 12 members of their crews will be in the country until Thursday, June 15.
