QCOSTARICA – In the first 48 hours of Semana Santa, 15 people were killed in our country and other 21 are in hospital in delicate condition.
According to the Costa Rican Red Cross (Cruz Roja Costarricense) at 10:00 am Monday morning, the death toll in site was 15 while in 2014 it was 11 and 25 for all the Semana Santa of that year.
The Red Cross, in its report, added that paramedics rescued 5 people from water accidents in the South and Central Pacific, unfortunately one drowning.
The Red Cross says it will be increasing its efforts on Thursday, the Semana Santa holiday goes into full swing. Thursday and Friday are legal holidays in Costa Rica.
The report indicates that seven people died in violent crimes, four killed in vehicle collision, two run over by a vehicle, and one in a fall.
