Sunday, Feb. 2 is going to be an interesting day in Costa Rica. We have to major events, from two different worlds, shaping the day in the small democratic country: the presidential elections and the American 2014 Super Bowl.

Although the big game on Sunday is an American thing, many Costa Ricans will be celebrating as well, switching channels between the game and election results.

While many have already made plans to watch the game at home or the home of friends, for others the games is not the game unless enjoyed in U.S. style sports bars like the Sportmen’s Lodge and Chubbs in downtown San José and Cow Town in Santa Ana.

A number of Tico bars are said to be carrying the game as well.

The 2014 Super Bowl XLVIII starts at 5:30pm Costa Rica time on Sunday.

Please use the comments section below to add your favourite bar or place to enjoy the game. You can also send us an email and will do our best to update this page.

If planning to go out for the game, keep in mind some municipalities will be “dry” on Sunday.
