COSTA RICA NEWS — Three persons were murdered and three wounded when a motorcyclist stopped before a group of people shortly after 2:30 Saturday morning and opened fire at the Villa Olimpica in Damas de Desamparados south of the capital, according to a preliminary report by the investigative agency OIJ.
The cyclist fired at point blank range into the group of six. The three men killed were Francisco Salazar, 24, Manuel Pena, 26, and Edgar Rivera, 23. They died at the scene. They had gathered some 50 meters from the entrance to the villa.
Injured were two sisters, 22 and 26 years old and a 23-year-old man. Two of the wounded were taken to San Juan de Dios Hospital and the other to Calderon Guardia Hospital. Motive for the shootings, OIJ suspects, had something to do with drugs because traces of cocaine were found.
Due to drugs, murders such as these, unheard of here in the last century, have become more common as has the use of hired assassins. Although OIJ did not note this, hired killers like to use motorcycles in their getaways because of their agility in traffic.
