At midnight tonight (Wednesday), the price of a liter of super gasoline will drop ¢60 colones, for regular ¢57 and ¢17 for a liter of diesel.
With this change, the price per liter of super gasoline, at 12:01 am Thursday, August 29, 2019, at all gasoline stations across the country will drop to ¢632, regular to ¢609 and, diesel to ¢526.
For example, to fill a typical 45 liter tank with super will cost ¢2,700 less, ¢2,565 less with regular and ¢810 with diesel.
The new prices were published this Wednesday morning in the official government newsletter, La Gaceta, that takes effect the day after.
When the Costa Rica refinery, RECOPE, requested this extraordinary adjustment at the beginning of the month, it indicated two causes for the reduction: decreases in the international price of derivatives imported to Costa Rica and the lag in the tariffs.
The RECOPE will be submitting, in the normal monthly adjustment program, on September 13, a new price adjustment.
