QCOSTARICA – Costa Rica’s first gas station selling biodiesel has opened in Ochomogo, Cartago. The biofuel is dispensed at the Servicentro Cristo Rey.
The fuel is supplied by Energías Biodegradables de Costa Rica, who has been producing biodiesel for more than 11 years. The company, with an investment of US$1 million dollars will be producing some 150,000 litres daily.
The company has generated 20 direct and 100 indirect jobs.
The gas station is also planning to install solar panels to operate the facility and is installing software allowing fleets to track their consumption and fuel cost per kilometre.
Consumers will have access to the station and its biodiesel supplies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
