QCOSTARICA – An American, believed the (alleged) leader of a drug trafficking gang operating out posh neighbourhoods of Escazu, Rohrmoser, Paseo Colon and Heredia, and three others were arrested Thursday morning by the Policia Contra de Drogas (PCD), a specialized anti-drug unit similar to the DEA in the U.S.
The PCD carried out simultaneous raids on luxury apartments, houses and a barn that were being used for processing and storage of illegal drugs.
Arrested were a U.S. citizen, identified his last name Zev; a Colombian surnamed Mendoza and two others, Kjar and Sormani, beleived to be Costa Ricans.
Apparently the group was dedicated to the cultivation and supply of hydroponic marijuana in the metropolitan area of San Jose.
PCD agents said they dismantled two laboratories and small amounts of marijuana and shotgun, which was registered to a security company. Also seized were three vehicles, an oxygen pump, small bags of marijuana residue and two books on how to grow hydroponic marijuana.
