QCOSTARICA – Pamela Crespi, 29, one of three persons accused of being part of El Indio’s gang of drug traffickers and car thieves centered in the southern metropolitan area, but who was declared innocent during the trial, was shot three times Sunday morning.
She was shot outside the San Sebastian jail, on the south side of San Jose. But she survived her wounds.
This confirms the fear that prosecutors had that a struggle for control of the gang’s territory would develop after El Indio received a long prison sentence. It appears that Crespi was waiting for visiting hours to begin at the San Sebastian jail when a passerby shot point-blank through the car window. Visits at the jail are only on Sundays.
According to OIJ investigators she was wounded in the left cheek, the skull and the right shoulder. Crespi was taken to the Clinica Biblica, a private hospital in San Jose by private car. It appears that she attempted to take the gun away from her assailant and did manage to knock the gun off its aim.
Crespi has yet presented a complaint against her assailant. Ironically, she herself has a complaint against her for allegedly firing at two men. She was released but is required to sign every two weeks and not to go near the men (the assailants) until a trial or the charges are dropped.
Drug cops are very interested in her movements internationally. She has used her passport 23 times since 2004, the last being to visit Panama in 2010.
