“Exclusive excursion to Nicaragua for Chavista supporters”

RICO’s Q — In a satirical article, Luis Paulino Vargas Solís reported on social media an “Important notice: Exclusive Nicaragua trip for Chavista supporters.”

Luis Paulino writes: “Given the close, warm, affectionate, and intimate ties of understanding, support, and mutual assistance between the Chavista government of Laura Fernández and the ‘elected’ rulers of Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega and his co-president and wife Rosario Murillo, a beautiful, enthusiastic, and festive trip to Nicaragua is being announced, exclusively for Chavista supporters.

“For this special occasion, the Chavista faithful will enjoy luxury, air-conditioned buses. Along the way, they will be served delicious Cantonese rice and coffee with biscuits. This boisterous delegation will be led by three 2026 Toyota Prado SUVs carrying President Fernández, her husband, Minister Chaves Robles, and advisor Pilar Cisneros. Obviously, these cars will be escorted throughout the journey by a group of 99 high-end motorcycles and 15 police patrol cars. They will also be accompanied from the air by a swarm of 132 drones from the DIS (Costa Rica’s Intelligence Service).

“The first stop on this elegant tour will be Granada and the islets of Lake Cocibolca, also known as Lake Nicaragua. On the second day, they will visit San Juan del Sur, where the Chavista faithful will have the opportunity to enjoy the turquoise sea and the beautiful beaches of this paradisiacal place. Meanwhile, President Fernández, her husband, advisor Cisneros, and Minister Chaves will have the opportunity to enjoy a captivating journey through Nicaraguan waters aboard a super-luxury yacht provided by Nicaragua’s “chosen” couple—the Ortega-Murillo couple—during which they will sample fine liquors and a variety of abundant Nicaraguan delicacies.

“On the third day, they will arrive in Managua, where they will be personally received by the Ortega-Murillo couple and their entire family—daughters, sons, and grandchildren—who, as is well known, control half of Nicaragua. President Fernández and advisor Cisneros will each receive bouquets of roses. The First Lady will be presented with a traditional Nicaraguan hat and a cotton shirt, while Minister Chaves will receive two six-packs of Nicaraguan beer, Toña. That evening, a gala dinner will be held for Costa Rican authorities, to which, however, the Chavista supporters will not have access.

“This is of no consequence, as they will enjoy a guided tour of downtown Managua, where they can sample the sausage sold at street food stalls.

“On the fourth day, the Chavista supporters will enjoy another guided tour, this time to see the ‘árboles de la vida’ (the metal installations of public art located in different sites in Managua, the capital of Nicaragua)’ that the ‘elected’ co-president, Murillo, placed throughout the capital.

“For the high-ranking members of the delegation—the president, her husband, Minister Chaves, and advisor Cisneros—this will be a day of rest, hydration, and recovery, and, in short, a day to sober up, since the gala dinner is scheduled to continue into a full-blown orgy that will conclude around 6 or 7 the following morning.

“The fifth day will be the return to Costa Rica.

“Upon boarding the bus, the Chavista faithful will receive instructions stating the following: From now on, it is forbidden to tell the opposition to go live in Nicaragua.”

What is satire?

Satire is a style of writing or art that uses humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize human flaws, social issues, or political corruption. It’s a way to shine a light on problems by making them look ridiculous or absurd, often encouraging people to think differently or inspire change. Satire can be found in books, movies, TV shows, cartoons, and even speeches. While it’s funny on the surface, its true power lies in the message behind the joke.
