Q COSTARICA — Barrio Escalante is celebrating Canadian gastronomy and culture with the Canadian Food Festival, an initiative organized by Distrito G and the Canadian Embassy in Costa Rica.
The event that kicked off June 12 and runs to the 28th features culinary offerings, art, and activities for visitors of all ages.
During the festival, twelve restaurants are presenting dishes inspired by Canadian recipes and traditions, reinterpreted by local chefs. Each culinary offering will be paired with a Bavaria beer selected to complement the flavors of each dish.

“At Distrito G, we are thrilled to resume our food festivals, spaces that allow us to introduce visitors to new cultures through gastronomy and create memorable experiences around good food,” said Mónica Mendoza, executive director of Distrito G.
The offerings include dishes such as salmon fish and chips, poutine, maple-marinated salmon, Nanaimo bars, Canadian-style pizza, and buttermilk pancakes.
The festival also ties in with the celebratory atmosphere surrounding the main international football tournament, in which Canada is one of the host countries.
The initiative aims to introduce the Costa Rican public to Canadian traditions, diversity, and cultural expressions through experiences that go beyond gastronomy.

“This festival is an invitation to discover Canada through its cuisine, its diversity, and the shared passion for football. We are thrilled to further strengthen the bonds of friendship between our countries,” said Ioanna Sahas Martin, Canada’s ambassador to Costa Rica.
As part of the program, attendees can participate in a Passport activity to visit participating establishments and win various prizes, which include overnight stays in Dota, foosball tables, kits, and commemorative items related to the football celebration.
With the festival, Barrio Escalante reinforces its commitment to experiences that combine gastronomy, culture, and entertainment, promoting cultural exchange between Costa Rica and Canada.
