
QCOSTARICA – The government of Luis Guillermo Solis says it has “invested: some ¢31 million colones on a publicity campaign to justify spending cuts made int he 2016 budget proposal submitted last to the Legislative Assembly for approval.
The Minister of Communications, Mauricio Herrera, explained the money will be used on television and radio spots that will air this week. More spots are planned for weeks following.
According to Herrera, the spending is necessary to explain to the public the measures taken by the government to be lean and contain public spending.
The minister said the expenditure is part of the proposed budget.
The minister assures that this government has spent less on advertising and called the “investment” modest compared to previous administrations.
