honduras-buildersCENTRAL AMERICA NEWS- The union argues that a reduction in the price of gray cement would help revive the depressed construction industry.

In an attempt to revive the construction sector, which fell by 8% in October 2014, the Honduran Chamber of the Construction Industry (Chico) has asked cement manufacturers for a review of prices.

The general manager of Chico, Silvio Larios told elheraldo.hn that “… There should be a review to consider a reduction in order to benefit end users, in accordance with the drop in fuel prices. We would give the same advise for the price of steel rods and those in which fuel has some impact. ”

For its part “… In its studies the Commission for the Defense and Promotion of Competition has challenged market concentration and state intervention in influencing pricing. This and other factors affect sectors such as liquid petroleum fuels, iron rods cement, ground transportation services, among others. ”
