QCOSTARICA – Only 100 of the 1.500 employees laid off by Intel in Costa Rica continue working, involved in the closure of the processing plant and the disconnection of machinery that is being donated to other companies.

Timothy Scott, manager of government relations at Intel confirmed the 1.400 layoffs.

The company ends the year with only 1,550 of the 2.800 employees it had in April at the La Ribera de Belén, Heredia plant, taking into account the 250 new employees that began working at the Megalab that was opened this week.

Scott added that the layoff process went smooth, all received training and support through job fairs and conventions with other companies.
