Costa Rica has a new “platina” bridge, not far from the original platina (bridge over the Virilla river, the Pablo II bridge in La Uruca, on the Autopista General Cañas, the most transited road in the country.

The detachment of an expansion joint (platina) in the Alajuela-San José direction forced the Conavi (a division of the Ministry of Transport) to carry out an emergency intervention in the structure.

The work is currently underway and expected to last about three hours, hopefully before the start of the afternoon rush hour. Transit police are on site, regulating traffic on the road that sees on average 90,000 vehicles daily.

Haven’t we heard that before? Yes, of course, on the original platina that took like almost 9 years to fix.

The Juan Pablo II bridge is victim to like almost every other bridge in the country: lack of maintenance and bureaucracy at the MOPT.
