QCOSTARICA – A “panga”  – modest-sized, open, outboard-powered, fishing boat – this afternoon capsized off the San Lucas island in the Gulf of Nicoya, Puntarenas (in the Pacific coast), according to the ervicio Nacional de Guardacostas (SNG) – Costa Rican Coast Guard.

A report by the Cruz Roja Costarricense (Red Cross) said the people were wearing life jackets, were rescued and in good condition and are now safe on the mainland.

The press office of the Ministerio Publico (MSP) confirmed at 1:25pm that the boat was not carrying passengers, all aboard were crew members.

Coast Guard is investigating the cause of the accident.
