The rains of the last couple of days have caused a series of landslides in the area of Tilaran, in particular in the communities of Viejo Arenal and Tronadora.

Early this morning, Friday, municipal work crews were working to re-open road access (ruta 142) and restoring electricity and water to the affected communities.

The Comision Nacional de Emergencias (CNE) – National Emergency Commission – has declared a “yellow” alert for the area.

Several homes were damaged by landslides. No one was hurt, one family very lucky, a young girl was able to warn her family when she was awakened by dirt falling on her face.
