We can expect another “Tico” loss come Wednesday when Costa Rica’s national soccer team, “La Selección“, faces Paraguay in San José.

The game to be played at the National Stadium is warm up game for the Ticos, when in June they head for Brazil.

Paraguay did not qualify for Brazil 2014, but should provide Costa Rica a preview of what to expect when they face powerhouses like England and Italy (and, oh yeah, Uruguay) in first round play.

In the last two encounters between the teams, Paraguay has won both of them, taking down Costa Rica 2-0 in 2010 and 1-0 in 2004.

For the Ticos, if they lose on Wednesday, it will the foruth straight loss. In the past three games, they have lost to Australia (1-0), Chile 4-0) and South Korea (1-0).

Important to note that the team headed into the FIFA World Cup play was missing both Bryan Ruiz and Alvaro Saborío. In October last year, Ruiz and Saborís both scored the 2 goals that gave them the 2-1 win over Mexico. In fact, Saborísis the top scorer, with 31 goals of any of Costa Rica’s active players.
