QCOSTARICA – Torrential rains and a tornado touched down in the beach town of Playa Jaco around 8:00pm Wednesday, leaving a trail of chaos.
Trees were uprooted, electrical posts downed, electrical cables strewn onto the streets and many homes and businesses flooded as a result of the natural phenomenon.
ICE staff worked through the night to repair the damaged posts and power lines, replacing blown out transformers, in an attempt to restore power to many areas as quickly as possible.
Fortunately there was only material damage reported, like the case of the Orotina family, vacationing in the Central Pacific beach, who had a tree fall onto their car.
Authorities said they had no report of any personal injuries resulting from the storm.
In the Central Valley, it was about 2:00am when the skies opened up, dumping on San Jose and surrounding areas.
This morning, the rain is continuing.
