(Q BUSINESS) — TransPerfect, the world’s largest privately held provider of translation services and technology solutions for global business, announced the opening of a new contact center in Costa Rica, specifically in Alajuela.
The facility will seat 120 new employees, most of whom are expected to be new hires from the Greater Metropolitan Area (GAM)
TransPerfect said the decision to establish a presence here was due to Costa Rica’s impressive reputation in the sector as well as its economic stability, it is the company’s first contact center in Central America.
Deputy Foreign Trade Minister Jhon Fonseca said, “In recent years, because of the innovation and accelerated technological disruption that we face worldwide, services sector operations have been transformed rapidly towards increasingly complex and larger value-added activities.”

Jorge Sequeira, Managing Director of CINDE, add that, “Costa Ricans’ English skill and high level of education allows companies like TransPerfect to see in Costa Rica a strategic partner to grow their operations.”
According to the TOEFL test that measures the quality of English, Costa Rica ranks at the top in language skill.
The new facility, strategically next to City Mall, with easy access to public transportation, restaurants, and shopping, is designed to provide an optimal work environment for interpretation and communications with active acoustic technology, break room amenities, and secure entry. TransPerfect will begin hiring at a pace of 20 interpreters per month, all of whom will be thoroughly trained and then responsible for servicing the company’s portfolio of international clients.
