COSTA RICA NEWS – Two major development projects are taking shape in Costa Rica, the City Mall and Parque Viva, both in Alajuela and minutes from the international airport.
In the first, City Mall Alajuela, at 200.000 square metres of floor space, with 300 stores and 2.700 parking spaces when it opens, will be the largest “centro comercial” (mall) in the country.
The mall is a US$130 million dollar investment by Corporación Lady Lee of Honduras, According to the developer, 90% of the retail space has already been committed to.
Doors are expected to open in November 2015.
Parque Viva, being developed on the grounds of La Guacima race track, is expected to be premier multi entertainment park in the region.
The 300.000 square metre entertainment park is being developed by the Grupo Nacion (Costa Rica’s leading newspaper publisher) on 28.2 hectares of land it purchased last summer. The investment in the large scale events centre is US$4o million dollars, according to La Nacion.
In the past La Guacima race track had been temporarily converted to hold concerts and other entertainment events, like the Imperial beer festival.
The large scale events centre is expected to open in March 2015.
