It was shortly after 7:00 am this morning, Thursday, when again for third consecutive day a vehicle collided with the commuter train. This morning’s accident was one block from the Atlantic station, near the Antigua Aduana (Old Customs) building.
The train was moving in the San Pedro to San José direction, when it collided with a passenger vehicle. The roads around the accident had to remain closed while tow trucks removed the vehicle and the train locomotive.
No injuries were reported.
Miguel Carabaguíaz, president of theInstituto Costarricense de Ferrocarriles (INCOFER) said all the trains – Heredia, San José and Cartago – were delayed due to the accident.
On Wednesday, a passenger vehicle collided with the train in Heredia. The day before that, a heavy truck slammed into the commuter train, near San Pedro mall. That accident left five injured, none seriously.
