A National Team Without Identity Saved From Embarrassment By The Relaxed Colombians

(QCOSTARICA SPORTS) Pardons by the ‘cafeteros’, saves by Esteban Alvarado and the fact that Colombia did not come out with its best players, helped save Costa Rica’s loss to only one goal.

Despite the 1-0 loss to the Colombians, the Costa Rican team looked really bad, as Seleccion (national team) coach Paulo Cesar Wanchope  used the friendly to keep trying out different player combinations and talents.

In the end all we can say is that it was lucky for the Ticos that the Colombians played a relaxed game,  not putting their best foot forward (no pun intended), taking little advantage of the numerous opportunities provided by the Ticos.

But this was only an international exhibition game played at the  Diego Armando Maradona stadium in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The next one for the Ticos is on Thursday, June 11, against Spain, in León (Spain).

Perhaps the biggest news was before the game, the troubles the Ticos had travelling as a group, given that the airlines with service to and from South America have very small “first class” sections.
