An The Winner Is … San José Wins Travel Award

COSTA RICA NEWS – San José was awarDed the ““Mexico & Central America’s Leading Meetings & Conference Destination,” at the 2014 World Travel Awards held in Quito, Ecuador on August 9.

Costa Rica’s capial city beat out the other nominees: Cancun, Mexico; Guatemala City, Guatemala; Mexico City, Mexico; Panama City, Panama; San Salvador, El Salvador; and, Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

Pablo Solano, excutive director of the Costa Rica Convention Bureau, accepted the award. The CRBV was founded in July 1998 by a group of Costa Rican businessmen representing the tourism industry, and whose vision it was to develop the MICE market in order to increase the number of visitors to our country.

The World Travel Awards (WTA) acknowledges, rewards and celebrates excellence across all sectors of the tourism industry. Each year WTA covers the globe with a series of regional gala ceremonies staged to recognise and celebrate individual and collective successes within each key geographical region.
