COSTA RICA LIFE – Four musicians, a couple of guitars and a desire to have a good time was enough for 104 year old Magdalena López to celebrate her birthday.

The humble woman who lives in Pavas de Upala, Alajuela, in Costa Rica’s northern zone, near the Nicaragua border, is the best baker in town, according to locals. Doña Magdalena says is learned the preparation of homemade bread in artisan ovens from her mother.

At 104 she still can walk on her own, doesn’t need glasses and is still baking bread and attending chickens in her yard daily.
