(QCOSTARICA) Costa Rica’s state-owned Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad  (ICE) has decided that pay-TV operator CableVisión will operate under its Kolbi Hogar brand.

“We are now Kolbi Hogar and will continue bringing the best entertainment for everyone, with the best quality and variety of services for your home,” ran the statement on the CableVisión Facebook page.

ICE acquired of 100 percent of Cable Vision in December 2013, allowing it to supplement its IPTV service with cable TV.

It was only this week that ICE decided market CableVisión’s TV services, Internet and IP telephone under the trademark Kölbi.

With the change, Kölbi now offer two types of pay television: the Kölbi Home TV service via cable modem and Kölbi Home Advanced TV by ADSL.

The first includes 92 channels, Internet from 1 to 4 Mbps, channel guide channel and a single cost for additional television outlets. While the second provides 103 digital channels, 58 audio channels, Internet between 1 to 4 Mbps, interactive tv guide and additional services such as HD channels, digital recording and video on demand.

The cost for basic cable television, without Internet and one television starts at ¢16,950

With the purchase of CableVisión, ICE now has 6% of the pay TV market.
