The national weather service, the Instituto Meteorológico Nacional (IMN) had called for heavy downpours for the weekend.

The CNE said it attended some 55 incidents due to rains, of which 40 were due to flooding in Heredia and the southwest of the Central Valley.

The CNE calls on the population to stay alert and take precautions in areas prone to flooding and/or new rivers.

Landslides is another problem from the heavy rains.
