TODAY COLOMBIA NEWS – President Juan Manual Santos has declared Friday (July 4) afternoon a public holiday in Colombia, which gives all public employees the afternoon off to watch the Colombia-Brazil game.

The declaration by Santos joins the declaration by many cities, like Cali, for examples, one of the first to declare Friday a Civic Day.

According to RCN radio, all public employees will have off starting at 1:00pm. Game time is 3:00pm in Colombia.

Earlier this week, Colombia’s vice-president, Angelino Garzon, encouraged local governments to declare a civic day, allowing all local employees time off to watch the game. Garzon made his statements on his Twitter account.
