Police report surprising a group trying to bury a plane that had fallen in a desolate area in Palmar Sur de Osa, in the southern part of Costa Rica.

The surprise find was in the wee hours of Sunday, near a clandestine landing strip in the area known as Finca 20 in Sierpe.

According to the official police report, three people were arrested, two of which were Colombian nationals and a Tico.

The surprise police presence stopped the three from completing their task of buying the small plan with the registration HK 4567, registered in Colombia.

A canine unit at the scene at the break of dawn on Sunday confirmed a trail of drugs, which are believed to have been extracted from the wreckage.
