QCOSTARICA – Wanted in the United States for murder, a Costa Rican decided to come home, but didn’t get too far after landing at the San Jose airport, when immigration police had him in handcuffs.

The 33 year-old man, identified only by his last name Meza, arrived at the Juan Santamaria international airport early Friday morning on a flight from Mexico and arrested at the immigration control post entering the country.

The man is also wanted in Costa Rica, by the Courts in Buenos Aires de Puntarenas for threats against a woman, according to a bulletin by the Dirección General de Migración y Extranjería (immigration service).

The bulletin did not provide details on the U.S. or Costa Rica warrants.

“The system used by immigration control at all border posts and the expertise of immigration officers, give security to the citizens, as it does not allow the entry or exit of people with criminal cases pending with authorities, ” said Kathya Rodriguez, Director of Immigration.
