The horses on the road were a dozen 'carousel' horses on the back on truck abandoned on the side of the road
The horses on the road were a dozen ‘carousel’ horses on the back on truck abandoned on the side of the road

QCOSTARICA Lighter Side Of the News – If someone told you “beware, horses on the road”, you probably would slow down to avoid hitting one. Or at least you should slow down.

That is the call heard over the Transito (traffic) police radio Wednesday morning, an official alerting fellow officers of “a dozen horses on the road”.

On hearing the call, all available Transitos (traffic police officials) in the area of Plaza Cariari responded to the call, to help corral the horses that could pose a serious menace on the autopista General Cañas. That is over the regular menaces of decaying bridges, no guard rails, lack of shoulders, pedestrains doing the mad dash, stalled cars in the middle of the highway, parked cars on the right hand land, speeding vehicles and so on.

But it was all a misunderstanding.

What the officer didn’t say is that they weren’t live horses . In fact it was a dozen “carousel” horses in the back of a trailer that appeared to have been abandoned on the side of the road.

The corralling was as simple tow from one of the Transito tow trucks to the impound lot.
