Twenty Dollar Bills Are Printed At The Bureau of Engraving and Printing

The dollar exchange keeps pushing up. After an increase of more than ¢10 colones last week, the trend upwards continued this morning.

Although the official exchange rate (set by the Central Bank on Saturday) for every one US dollar is ¢539.09 for the buy and ¢553.55 for the sell, at noon today, the rate was much higher at the local banks.  Click here for the latest rate at banks.

The private banks, BAC San José and Davivienda (both under Colombian control) andScotiabank (Canada), were trading the US currency at ¢543 for the buy and ¢558 for the sell. Citibank’s rates was ¢544 and ¢558.

The state banks, Banco Nacional (BN) and Banco de Costa Rica (BCR) set their exchange rate at ¢543 for the buy and ¢556 for the sell. Banco Popular had its sell at slighlty higher, ¢558.

The best exchange, according to the Banco Central de Costa Rica (BCCR) bulletin was at the exchange house, Teledolar, with the sell at ¢561.
