COSTA RICA NEWS — Although the road has been reopened to traffic, residents and businesses in Curridabat, in the area of EPA and Montesacro, remain without electrical power after a truck struck down a utility pole around 6:00am.

Crews of the Compañía Nacional de Fuerza y Luz (CNFL) – national power and light company (a division of ICE)- has been on site since the morning accident, saying they expect to restore power by the late afternoon.

Fructoso Garrido, director of the CNFL, told La Nacion that it usually takes about 8 hours to repair a knocked down utility pole.

As a consequence of the accident, power was also affected in San Pedro and Tres Rios for more than an hour.
