Starting today, the Tribunal Supremo de Elecciones (TSE) – elections tribunal – bans all politicking, that includes propaganda and polls, including social media websites like Facebook and Twitter.
TSE’s Héctor Fernández, explained that starting at zero hour Thursday and ending after election day Sunday, there is a complete ban on all campaigning and not limited to candidates and political groups, but to one and all, including users of the social media.
Violation of the ban can mean a monitery fine of between ¢3.8 million and ¢18.9 million colones.
The ban is to allow voters to reflect on the campaign and be free of any undue pressure before voting.
