QCOSTARICA – Costa Rican journalist Glenda Umaña will be the master of ceremonies at the 3rd Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), being held in Costa Rica on January 28 and 29.

“I am extremely grateful, honored to be part of Costa Ricans as hosts of this meeting, in this important historic moment,” said Umaña.

According to a government statement, Umaña only will be paid airfare from United States, where she now lives. She did not request payment for her services.

“Glenda Umaña is a Costa Rican journalist, honoring the tradition of freedom of expression in Costa Rica. Her recognition, national and international, honors the administration, having her. We appreciate her collaboration, and without charging for her professional services,” said Manuel González, Costa Rica’s Foreign Minister.

Glenda, began her career in journalism at Canal 17 in San José, moving to Canal 6 and in 1988 to Canal 7, where she was a reporter and anchor for the most watched news channel for more than 8 years. In 1997, she joined CNN Español, where up to November 2014 anchored of various programs for the international news network.
