Starting this weekend the traffic headaches on the Circunvlación will start again, as the Ministerio de Obras Públicas y Transportes (MOPT) begins the process of removing the Baily bridges, and erecting a new permanent bridge over the María Aguilar river.

According to the MOPT press release,  Saturday night is when crews will remove the first of four Bailey bridges erected last November after a section of the  Circunvlación began to sink.

Traffic through the area will through the three remaning Baileys, one which will be a reversible depending on traffic conditions. The following weekend, the second Bailey will be removed, leaving only two lanes for traffic.

By March 1, work on the first half of the permanent bridge will be completed, restoring traffic to four lanes.

Subsequentely, crews will then use the same process to remove the remaning two Bailey bridges and erect the second half of the permanent bridge.
