Q24N (Prensa Latina) The Olympic Games flame, which will light the sports activities during the 2016 Games, will start its tour on the state of Minas Gerais, after being received by 15 cities in the states of Goias and the Federal District of Brasilia.

Coming from Goiandira the flame of the Olympic fire will reach Araguan, Minas Gerais, until next Monday, when it will be said good-bye in Montes Claros.

The Olympic flame received a great welcome in Uberlandia, after touring 16 kilometers in the municipality, going by the hands of 86 reliefs.

Uberlandia is the biggest city of so-called Mining Triangle and is considered one of the most prosperous cities in Brazil, an important tourist destination for national and foreign visitors, with facilities for ecological and sport tourism and other aspects.

The cauldron with the Olympic flame was brought from Athens, Greece and lightened at the Palace of Planalto (presidential house) on May 3 by Carlos Nuzman, president of the 2016 Games Organizing Comiittee and the Brazilian Olympic Committee, President Dilma Rousseff lioghtened the torch, and gave it to Brazilian athlete Fabiana Claudinho, the first carrier to transport the torch.

The flame of the 2016 Olympic Games will be at the Maracana Stadium during the competitions,and will tour more than 20,000 kilometers and 10,000 miles on air, to reach 330 Brazilian cities,taken in the hands of 12,000 carriers.
